Growing up in a mountainous area, I've always had a special attachment to the woods. So when Sarah contacted me for a photo session and requested to shoot in the woods or park instead of the beach, I knew we were going to create something magical.

In my mind, I had envisioned a stunning mother surrounded by her beautiful boys, enjoying their time together in the woods while the golden light shone through the trees. It might sound like a fairy tale, but this is what I had been picturing all along.

As to the outfit choices, I suggested that Sarah dress in lighter colours so that they would stand out against the dark forest. She nailed it in a simple yet elegant backless, long, flowy dress and coordinated her boys with similar-tone clothes.

We had to reschedule our session for the first time due to a storm warning. But on the actual day of the shoot, the weather was perfect, with beautiful golden light shining through the trees, just like I had dreamed, well worth the rescheduling.

It didn't take long for the boys to start running around, collecting stickers, peeling bark off the trees, and trying to play hide-and-seek.

I'm not usually a black-and-white shooter, but Sarah requested mostly B&W photos in her questionnaire, so I intentionally shot and edited some B&W images.

If there is one thing I would have liked to improve about the photo session, it would have been capturing an image of Sarah cuddling one of her boys while her back is facing me to showcase her beautiful backless dress.
